Want to keep Fido fashionable this season? See the latest in canine couture – and some great looks for humans, too – as Dogs Do the Catwalk to benefit the new Goodwill Assistance Dog Academy. The luncheon and fashion show is Saturday, May 10, at the Chattanooga Theatre Center and will feature ensembles from Bone Appetit Bakery alongside matching outfits from area Goodwill retail stores. The fundraiser benefits the new Goodwill Assistance Dog Academy, which is a partnership between Goodwill and McKamey Animal Care and Adoption Center.
The silent auction and entertainment will begin at 11 a.m., followed by lunch and the fashion show at noon. Many of the auction items are one-of-a-kind, including original drawings, charcoals and signed and numbered prints, as well as cufflinks, pins and other jewelry. Local artists contributing to the auction are Daryl Thetford, Charles Pinckney, Dana Shavin, Kathy Frey, Janet Campbell, Laura Compton, Tres Taylor and Beth Tarkington. A number of canine art figurines from a variety of breeds will also be available for auction, including cast and hand painted metal, porcelain, Bakelite and crystal.
Tickets for the event, which is for humans only, are $35 per person and can be purchased by calling (423)629-2501, ext. 228, through May 7. “Dogs Do the Catwalk” is sponsored by Blush Magazine, The Brookfield Co., Custom Custodial, New Beginnings Counseling Center, and Tennessee Awning and Tent Company.
